Cheers - Bovey Tracey Town Hall is to be converted into a whisky distillery centre.

Plans are being formulated which, when fully fermented, are hoped will create jobs and attract thousands of visitors.

The distillery is being set up by Simon Crow, of the town’s Edgemoor Hotel, and another local businessman, Greg Millar.

This week the town council agreed to the move and now it is a question of dotting the I’s and crossing the T’s, to complete the leasehold price process.

Because it is still subject to contract no financial terms have yet been released.

Mr Crow and Mr Millar, directors of Dartmoor Whisky Distillery, have agreed to a long lease and plan to convert the building into a distillery centre for visitors to view the distillation process, backed by a retail shop for merchandise, a visitor centre and whisky/cafe bar, along with tours and whisky distillation courses.
