MOVES are afoot to improve public safety around the Asda section of the River Lemon in Newton Abbot after it claimed the life of a teacher before Christmas.
Residents and councillors affected by the Christmas Eve tragedy of 46-year-old Nick Mutton – who died trying to rescue his dog from the swollen river – are mindful that his death should not pass without some concerted effort to make the area less dangerous.
