A project to film life on a 'vibrant and caring' Newton Abbot housing estate is one of the first in the country to win a Heritage Lottery grant of £10,000.

It also has the backing of television presenter and historian Michael Wood.

The Newton Abbot Community Interest Company has been given an All Our Stories award for the Our Buckland, Our Film initiative.

Together with Sure Start and pupils from Haytor View Primary School, the group will encourage residents to record their memories and day to day lives, with the premiere set to take place in the town next autumn.
