Police this week stepped up their inquiries into an alleged attempted murder in Newton Abbot.

The victim, 41-year-old Nasim Ahmed, was attacked outside his home last week, suffering serious head and face injuries.

He was described as 'stable' in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth.

Restaurant owner Mr Ahmed was assaulted at 11.46pm on Wednesday last week in Aller Park Road as he returned home from work. Neighbours who heard screams dialled 999.

Det Insp Steve Parker, who is heading Operation Olive, has issued an appeal for information regarding the movements of a Silver BMW 525 M Sport saloon in the Newton Abbot area on that Wednesday evening and Thursday, October 28, when it was seen on the M5 near Exeter.
