WHEN Steve Scagell begins a new career at the South Devon College Campus in Bradley Lane, Newton Abbot, on Monday, the family connection will have completed a full circle.
He closed his garage – Steve Scagell Motor Repairs in the town's Oak Place – last week to become a trainee facilitator at the college, which is on the site of the former Newton Abbot Motors where his father, Peter, learned his trade in the 1950s.
Peter opened the repair workshop in the 1970s and Steve, who grew up in Ideford and now lives in Kingsteignton, joined the family business in 1988 on a YTS scheme which involved training as a mechanic at the South Devon College.
