NEWTON Abbot carnival's maids of honour were rewarded for their success during this year's parade season.

The 13 girls took turns attending carnivals across south Devon, with this year's Queen Natasha Fox, 14, and of the six parades, they won five first places and one third place.

Prize money from the wins, totalling £220, was shared out between the girls and handed out, in little gift bags, at a presentation evening held at Newton Abbot town hall.
