The search is on for this year's Dawlish Carnival queen.

Hopefuls can attend a disco run by Tony Drinkall on Saturday, March 1, at the Manor House. Entry fee is £1.50 and refreshments will be available.

Age groups will be as follows – queen 14 years and over; princess 12-13 years; attendant 9-11 years.

Contestants are reminded that provided they are the applicable age by crowing day, Sunday, May 25, they are eligible.

The lower age of the attendant is nine years this year because it was felt that eight years was too young considering the late and sometimes cold nights.

Committee members val Wedlake and Sara Reynolds have agreed to share the duties of Aunty to look after the children at the various carnivals.

Help in transporting the children to the carnival sites will still be very much appreciated.

The committee has had many queries regarding the theme for the carnival. Nothing has been agreed yet, though suggestions have been received.

There will be a suggestion box at Jen's sweet shop in Park Road for you to use.

It is hoped that the best suggestions will be selected and a decision taken at the disco. Good ideas will be kept in mind for future years.
