COMMUNITY-MINDED Carole Smart has been crowned Chudleigh’s best citizen for all her hard work within the town.

Carole fought off stiff competition from five other hopefuls to pick up the 2018 Citizen’s Award.

She was put forward for the accolade after setting up Chudleigh Film Society and for being a key member of Chudfest and the Twinning Association.

Carole also started a successful weekly luncheon club recently.

Malcolm Grose, Carol Ramsay, Wendy Bishop, Carl Gill and previous winner Alan Brunton were all in the running for the title.

The award, introduced by the town council in 2012, recognises people who have contributed to the community.

Carole will be presented with her well-earned award at Chudleigh Town Council’s meeting on May 14.
