WHEN Henry Harmer and Catherine Cornish married in a London chapel on March 23, 1940, one of their bridesmaid's was the bride's ten-year-old sister Dorothy.
On Tuesday, the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in the Tracey Vale Residential Home, Bovey Tracey, and there wishing them congratulations was Dorothy, their daughter Gill Scheltinga, grandson Duncan, residents and staff.
They received phone calls, letters and cards, including one from the Queen, while their son Stuart rang from his Australian home, and a grandson called from Tenerife.
