Students from across the district were celebrating excellent GCSE results on Tuesday.

Newton Abbot College was riding high after achieving record GCSE results for the third year running.

In total, 68 per cent of students achieved five or more A*-C grades, a significant increase from last year's 59 per cent, and 2010 sees the best results the college has achieved.

Principal Gareth Davies said: 'I am absolutely delighted that students' hard work has paid off with these results. Coupled with our excellent Sixth Form results from last week, this shows just how far we've have come in a few short years and gives us confidence that we are doing the right thing in enabling our students to achieve ever greater progress.'
