A CHARITY bike ride will be raising funds for the Samaritans - for the fourth year running.
Organisers Steve and Debbie Cornish are inviting as many people as possible to get involved in the day in memory of their daughter Danielle.
Over the last three years, the bike rides have raised thousands of pounds for the charity.
This year’s ride on Sunday April 19 will include distances of 12, 20 and 50 miles.
Steve said: “For the fourth year running, we will be completing a 50 mile cycle ride in memory of my daughter Danielle, who sadly lost her battle to mental health in August 2022.
“We will also be riding to raise awareness to mental health in general.
“The Samaritans do a great job, they give their time for free and help people to prevent them from getting to crisis point.
“Danielle said they were always non-judgmental and she also took part in running events to raise funds for them herself.”
Danielle, who worked for the Office of National Statistics, died just after her 29th birthday.
The charity cycle will begin at The Haven, Ideford for the 20 and 50 mile rides leaving at 9.00am while the 12-mile route will be leaving B&Q at Newton Abbot at 10.00am. Riders are advised to arrive early.
Steve’s wife Debbie and younger daughter Tayde will be organising a tea, coffee and cake sale from 11am to 4pm at Ideford Village Hall including a tombola and a raffle.
The organisers are still looking for donations and any local businesses open to donating vouchers for the raffle, can contact Tayde on 07734943677.
There is no entry fee for the ride but anyone taking part is encouraged to share the group’s fundraising page with family and friends to leave words of encouragement or sponsorship.
The fundraising page can be found at: https://samaritanscommunity.enthuse.com/pf/steve-cornish-2026
Steve added: “We want to make it a fun and enjoyable day, and support us in helping raise money and awareness for seriously struggling people.”
