Darth Vader, Stormtroopers and other characters from Star Wars paraded down the streets of Bovey Tracey as part of the towns annual carnival procession on Saturday.

They were joined by around 30 other entries.

We were lucky as the sun shone for us, in the five years Ive been involved in organising the carnival weve been lucky with the weather, said Rob Petit, chairman of Bovey Tracey Carnival Committee.

He said that there was a good turn out for the procession, but felt the towns recent charter celebrations may have hindered people coming to support it.

We did struggle to get a lot of people to get behind the carnival, but those who came along really enjoyed it, he said.

The towns royalty float, called Disco Lights, was one of the carnival highlights.

It was funky and very loud, said Mr Petit.

The float will compete in a further 27 carnivals this year.
