THE main road through Chudleigh Knighton is open today, despite reports to the contrary.
It was closed for a while last night as work was carried out to demolish part of a wall at the Anchor Inn, part of which had blown down in Tuesday night’s storm.
The pub was badly damaged in a fire almost three years ago.
Some residents claimed they were stopped from walking to their village shop the Knighton Stores late yesterday afternoon, and shopkeeper Steve Rowell whose trade has already been badly hit by the closure of the B3344 at Bradley Bends, had no alternative but to close early.
