A Kingsteignton fundraiser hoping to save the crumbling parish church has insisted she is not taking the Michael with her latest venture.

Lin Walters' efforts have so far raised half the £300,000 needed to restore the Grade II star listed St Michael's Church and as a result the leaking roof has been fixed.

But still desperately needed are disabled loos, a kitchen and central heating system.

Being new additions to the historic structure, grants are hard to come by so Mrs Walters has launched a novel scheme.

'I have written to all 150 people in the town we can find on the electoral roll whose name is Michael and invited them to join a prestigious group of other people called Michael to assist in the restoration,' she said.FULL STORY IN OUR DIGITAL EDITION
