CLIMATE change action will be the only agenda item under discussion at a public meeting in Ashburton this evening. (Aug 6)

The Ashburton Climate Emergency hub (ACE) will be hosting the event in the Town Hall at 7.30pm to consider what option can be pursued on a local level.

Organisers are hoping for a healthy turn-out to harness greater public support for an issue which is rapidly gaining momentum locally and nationally.

The meeting is a consequence of the town council’s earlier decision to declare a climate and ecological emergency in Ashburton.

It’s hoped other communities across Teignbridge will follow their lead.

ACE spokesman Clare Tinnyunt said the aim of this evening’s gathering was to brief interested parties on how they can help do their bit.

An assortment of join initiatives are being considered from community composting and food cultivation to electric vehicle points in car parks and solar panels.

‘A lot of people have been asking us what they can do to help. The meeting should give them some answers,’ said Clare.

Free tea and cake is being provided for those interested in the cause.
