Newton Abbot Athletics Club held its annual awards evening and annual meeting at the Abbrook Sports and Social Club, Kingsteignton.

The president and chairman thanked the coaches and officers for their support and work in keeping the club to the fore.

They also thanked the athletes for their hard work and support in all the different events participated in throughout the year.

The big news for the club is that the government inspector has given approval of a sporting complex to be built at New Cross, Kingsteignton, which, along with cycling and gymnastics facilities, will include an all weather track and stadium.

Current chairman Irene Knight and her husband David, a committee member, have both steppted down after many years service. Both were thanked for their hard work and commitment.

Officers elected were: president John Semmen, chairman Linda Dabbs, treasurer Tim Eden and secretary Kieran Dore.
