British Ceramic Tiles is facing possible action for apparently breaching the conditions of its operating permit at its Heathfield factory.

Teignbridge Council received numerous complaints from residents that dust was escaping from the premises. Environmental health officers found the required filters were not being used.

The authority's community environment warden took photographic evidence and the principal environmental health officer, Colin Bignall, visited the site for a detailed investigation.
