A RECEPTIONIST from Stokeinteignhead unfairly dismissed by a family firm of undertakers has finally been awarded her compensation of £30,000.

Roz Perrin was given her marching orders by Fred Christophers & Son last year before being replaced by ‘a young fit blonde’.

She celebrated her 65th birthday at home this week by banking the payout which she says she will use as income after losing her job in 2014.

The funeral firm had appealed against the costs and compensation order of more than £40,000 imposed on them after an employment tribunal in February.

The tribunal ruled that Ms Perrin had been unfairly dismissed by the company, which has offices at Homelands Hall, Jetty Marsh Road, Newton Abbot, and Bridge House, Kingsbridge Lane, Ashburton.
