The arrival of autumn was heralded in Hennock on Sunday by the village's annual apple day.

The festivities at West Hele Barn centred round the pressing of fruit from nearby Frost Farm, a vintage crusher manufactured decades ago in Newton Abbot brought in for the job.

At the helm was farmer Vic Beer, who made sure the windfall crop was handled in the proper fashion before being passed to Chudleigh Knighton cider maker Harry Hooper on the press.

No sooner had the tawny juice begun to flow than people started queuing up to sample it.
