AN application to renovate part of a building on Queen Street that has fallen into a state of disrepair has been rejected.
24/01275/FUL had sought to renovate the rear of 64 Queen Street, including a new office space on the ground floor and a one bedroom apartment spit over the first and second floors.
But Teignbridge District Council (TDC) refused to grant planning permission, saying that ‘insufficient information has been submitted to demonstrate that the proposed development will be safe from flooding over its lifetime’.
The proposals, therefore, would run contrary to both the National Planning Policy Framework and the Teignbridge Local Plan, the council said.
Newton Abbot Town Council raised no objection to the application when it came before its planning committee.
The rear of the building is currently used as a storage and workshop space on the ground floor, with the first and second floors being empty.
