COUNCIL tax payers in Teignbridge are set to face an increase for the first time since 2010.
On Tuesday the district authority’s executive agreed to recommend to the full council that there is a rise of 1.95 per cent for 2016-2017.
If next month’s council meeting agrees it will see the annual charge for a Band D property go up by £2.93 to £153.10 a year. Currently the average Band D payment is £150.17.
A report before the executive also revealed that it was assumed there would be a similar increase for the 2017-2018 financial year.
The proposal follows five years in which council tax charges have been frozen.<
