AMBITIOUS plans to transform Stover Country Park will be on show tonight, and there’s a chance to meet the team tasked with making them a reality.

The Stover Visitor Centre will host an open meeting tonight from 6.30pm to 8.30pm where you can learn more about the funding proposals and plans from the people putting them into action. Maps and diagrams will help them explain how the park will be transformed.

Among the proposals are new walkways and bridges, landscaping and improvements to the park’s buildings.

Stover Country Park comprises more than 114 acres of woodland, heathland, grassland, lake and marsh and a substantial variety of wildlife. It is a site of special scientific interest owned and managed by Devon County Council.

Cllr George Gribble, Devon County Councillor for Bovey Rural, said: ‘Stover offers a number of benefits for the environment and for people’s health and wellbeing, so it’s important that we make the most of what the country park has to offer – and improving the site’s listed buildings and walking routes would certainly do that.

‘We would urge everyone to come along, find out about the proposals and take the opportunity to comment on them.’

Cllr Roger Croad, Devon County Council cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: ‘We want people to really enjoy the park when they come here, which is why we’re proposing improvements to the historic infrastructure, habitats and facilities for visitors.

‘We’re keen for people to view the proposals for our funding bid and provide us with their feedback, which will then be used as part of the application process.’

Comment forms will be available for feedback at the display event and open meeting.
