visitors flocked to a sunny Teign Country Show and Rally at Oakfield, Old Exeter Road, Chudleigh, in aid of St John Ambulance, Chudleigh division, at the weekend.

Tractor, car, motorcycle and stationary engine enthusiasts were out in force for the fun weekend. 'It is the first time we that wed it in this field and it went really well. 'It was ever so hot, but the sun brought out a lot of people,' said show official Beryl Plummer. 'We have not counted up all the money yet, but we've definitely made hundreds of pounds for St John Ambulance and we will make a presentation to them in the near future. 'This is the fifth year that we've organised it and this year we've had a lot more people come along, a lot more tractors and a lot more trade stands. 'The dog show on the Sunday was also good and we had a lot of entries.' Teignbridge MP Richard Younger-Ross lent his support to the show. 'There are a large number of fayres, fetes and markets in the West Country and it is always a pleasure to see them,' he said. The Chudleigh St John Ambulance division wants to raise £40,000 for a new ambulance. The present vehicle is 10 years old and shortly will be used only as a first aid post, said Mr Younger-Ross.
