A controversial scheme to build a new housing estate on green fields at Teignmouth is being opposed by the county council.
Waddeton Homes wants to erect 165 homes alongside Shepherds Lane on the boundary with Bishopsteignton, but it has met bitter opposition from many residents.
It is one of several projects by developers to build on the outskirts, and if all were approved it would swell the population of the resort by more than 1,000. Opponents maintain this would clog up roads, causing more pollution and jams and overwhelm the infrastructure and facilities.
