A COUPLE who celebrated their Platinum marriage anniversary received a congratulatory from our late monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, and they are likely among the very last people to have done so.
Jean & Ivor Osborne, left, both 93, recently celebrated 70 years of marriage and were thrilled to receive a card from Queen Elizabeth II, marking the occasion.

In the wake of Her Majesty’s passing, however, it is more than likely the couple, who live in Ipplepen, are among the very last people to receive a card from the late monarch.
Gregory Osborne, one of Ivor and Jean’s three sons, said: ‘My parents were over the moon to receive a congratulatory card from Her Majesty and a couple of days later they were devastated to hear the sad news of her passing.
‘Realising that they will have been one of the last couples to get a card from the Queen, my father is hopeful for our King as he met him when he was on a visit to Seale Hayne in Newton Abbot.
‘He remembers that as he was then Prince of Wales, made a special point of turning back and waving to the catering staff gathered on the steps.
‘It struck my father as a wonderful act to make their day, as he recalls that was 40 years ago.’
