A TYRE fitter who stole £10,000 from a fish wholesaler is to repay just £1 because he has no assets.
Thomas Smith left a fire exit open after going back to the business after a night out with the boss, who was a friend of his at the time.
He sneaked back later and stole £10,000 from the Potted Fish company at Heathfield, near Newton Abbot.
Smith, aged 26, of no fixed abode, was jailed for eight months at Exeter Crown Court in April.
He returned to the same court for a Proceeds of Crime hearing where a judge made a nominal order of £1 after being told Smith has no available assets.
Miss Felicity Payne, prosecuting, said a financial investigation had shown there was no prospect of Smith repaying any of the money or the interest that has accrued since the break-in.
