A 300-YEAR-OLD Dartmoor forge is being brought back to life on Sunday, March 12.
Top event horse riders Mary King and her daughter Emily will open the event in the centre of Widecombe-in-the-Moor at 11.30am.
The forge fires will be lit and there’ll be horseshoeing demonstrations, live music and horseshoe throwing stalls.
A spokesman for the event said: ‘Blacksmith and farrier Nick Rule has saved a part of our heritage with his dream for all to witness, as hot iron is turned into a shoe for a horse.
‘The renovated forge will be re-opened on Sunday by event riders Emily and Mary King. Nick shoes Mary’s horses.
‘The open day is an opportunity to experience a piece of local history bought to back to life in beautiful surroundings.’
The day will also raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK and Widecombe Primary school.
