DEADLOCK remains over efforts to authorise an illegal access road used daily by police – including highway crime officers – at their newly-built station in Ashburton.

Dartmoor National Park planners have rejected an application for a permanent 25 metre road to be authorised because of a legal wrangle with the landowner over off-site highways works at the plagued 'eyesore' Dolbeare Business Park. Temporary permission for the road expired 18 months ago.

The police station was the first structure to be built on the Park. Other units fell by the wayside when the developer went bust.
