A NEW half a million pound building at Rydon School, Kingsteignton, was officially opened this week by Cllr Mary Strudwick, chairman of Devon County Council.

To celebrate the opening of four new classrooms, a new play area, toilet block and car park Midas Property Services, who built the all new building, donated £200 of book tokens to the school.

Neil Graham, Headmaster of the school is extremely happy with the new facilities.

'The school is delighted with the new classrooms. Midas showed courtesy throughout the entire project and there was minimum disruption to the pupils' learning'.

The four new class rooms will help accommodate a growing intake of pupils, and they will replace former temporary units that were being used.

In total there are now 18 classes at the school.

Work began on the development last summer and has been funded by the government's New Deal for Schools and Devon County Council.
