HUNDREDS packed into Chudleigh's main streets and town hall to enjoy an evening of Christmas fun and entertainment.

The event on Thursday last week was heralded by a peal of bells in the parish church, before the switching on of the Christmas tree lights outside by Father Christmas and carnival queen Georgia Abbot Palmer.

Father Christmas, who managed to fit Chudleigh into his incredibly busy schedule, and Georgia then led a parade of the town's primary school children through Fore Street – each section of the festive lights coming on as they passed.
