Dave and Vera Hewings of New Park Road, Kingsteignton finally got to celebrate their Diamond Wedding with 70 close friends and family at Newton Abbot Rugby Club at the end of August.
Their anniversary date was March 26, 2020 but the Covid lockdowns meant the party which had been organised for last year had to be postponed leaving Dave and Vera to celebrate with close family in their garden decorated with bunting, flags and balloons.
They both said once lockdowns had been lifted and they felt safe to do so they would celebrate with one big party.S
o family members made sure this happened and arranged the party at the end of last month.
Family travelled from as far as Cambridge, Sunderland and Spain to see the special couple finally celebrate their diamond anniversary.
Dave and Vera are known for their raffles at their skittles evenings so they arranged one on the day and together with kind donations from their friends and family they raised a total of £500 which they have split £250 for British Heart Foundation and £250 for Alzheimers Research.
