BOVEY Tracey bloomed at a presentation event after being awarded a silver gilt for its town flower display.
The accolade was announced at the South West in Bloom Competition ceremony at the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth.
Judges, who visited in July, believed the display was a credit to the town council groundsmen,
One judge said: ‘Bovey Tracey was a pleasure to judge, with its diverse range of sites, features and initiatives matching the Bloom criteria.’
Town mayor Cllr Ulli Arnold said: ‘This is another great achievement for Bovey Tracey and one we should be very proud of.
‘This award would not have been possible without the dedication and commitment of many organisations and individuals.’
Pictured right are Roger Rance (left) and Ron Hubbard, the council’s only groundsmen, who will be retiring next year.
Both have worked for the council for around 15 years according to the town clerk Mark Wells.
Mr Wells said: ‘You wouldn’t find two more dedicated and loyal employees as Ron and Roger.
‘They have pride in all that they do and work tirelessly to improve the town, turning out in all weathers to make sure everything looks the best that it can.
‘The award is a tremendous achievement for everyone in Bovey, giving a real focus on working together to make lasting improvements.
‘I know that when Ron and Roger confirm their retirement, they will both be greatly missed by all.’
