TWENTY extra police officers are being drafted in to Teignbridge as part of a major shake-up in resources.

The additional officers are to be based at Teignmouth police station and will cover the town and Teignbridge east area which runs as far as Exminster and includes Dawlish.

The idea is to improve response times and provide a better service to the public.

Previously, response officers operated out of Newton Abbot station answering reports of crimes and 999 calls.
