A PLAN to introduce a £35 'garden tax' is being reconsidered by Conservative-led Teignbridge Council.
The scheme, due to be implemented in April, has attracted opposition, with a Liberal Democrat petition obtaining almost 6,000 signatures.
The party has also claimed that environment supremo, Cllr Kevin Lake, is not fit to hold the post and will move a motion of no confidence.
On Tuesday, Teignbridge leader Cllr Jeremy Christophers described the £35 charge for people who want the council to continue collecting their garden waste as 'a bit contentious' and revealed that the arrangements were being looked at as part of next year's budget setting.
