A Staffordshire bull terrier was stolen from the Animals In Distress Rescue Centre, Ipplepen, earlier this month, and the organisation is desperate to find out if the dog is ok. A couple took a liking to the two-year-old dog, named Holly, and asked to take her out for a walk on May 14 to get to know her, but never returned. 'It's only the second time that this has happened in 12 years,' said manager Chris Paradine. 'We've now changed and increased our security measures. We are so careful about re-homing our dogs and do home checks to make sure they are going to good homes. It's a real shame she was taken, she was such a friendly dog and was only with us for a week. 'The young couple who took her said that they were registered dog walkers, but they weren't. We'd ask people to keep an eye out and if they see that their neighbour has a new Staffordshire bull terrier that looks about Holly's age and colouring please let the police know.' Holly is dark brown and has a white blaze down her front. Anyone with information should call Newton Abbot Police Station on 08452 777444, quoting crime number JN06 1454.
