NINJA Turtles, Harry Potter, The Red Arrows, escaped convicts, vikings and even the Prime Minister all took to the streets of Shaldon on Boxing Day

Such characters of course could only mean that it was the welcome return of the annual Boxing Day Three-Legged Run.

The fancy-dress extravaganza, organised by Shaldon Water Carnival, is one of the most colourful and craziest of Boxing Day events in the area with runners in a range of imaginative costumes, and of course bound at the ankles, taking a dash around the pubs of Shaldon.

Judges Chris and Sally Clarance had their work cut out this year commenting that chosing the fancy dress winners was an incredibly difficult task.

However, the top three in each category were:

Second, Only Fools and Horses, James Landell, Tim and Sisse Starkey, Chris and Charlotte Mills, Frazer Williams. Third, Quality Streets, Ella and Kerry Quartly, Pauline Harbert, Molly and Maddy Dorey, Elaine Burnham, Eloise Cole-Munday, Callum Robinson, Rachel MacPhail, Justin Bunsall.
