A WOMAN pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision in Newton Abbot this morning, Friday.

Police say they were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Carlisle Street, Newton Abbot, at around 6:10a today.

A police spokesperson said: ‘A woman sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

‘Officers are investigating the circumstances that led to the collision.

‘A local man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of assault, driving whilst unfit through drugs and possession of class B drugs. He remains in custody at this time.
