IT’S not everyday a member of the British Royal Family pays a visit to one’s place of work, but that was precisely the case in Bovey Tracey this week.

Richard, Duke of Gloucester, paid a visit to Dartmoor Community Kitchen Hub, a non-for-profit social enterprise providing freshly cooked, nutritious meals for elderly and vulnerable residents of the town.

The Duke, who is 31st in the line of succession to the British throne, arrived just before two o’clock on Tuesday (March 19) and was greeted by Stella West-Harling MBE the hub’s founder and CEO and Cllr Sheila Brooke, mayor of Bovey Tracey.

Stella gave the Duke a tour of the Hub Cafe, detailing the company’s philosophy when it comes to food, with particular emphasis given on the company’s latest ventures: the development of a new plant-based protein product aimed at enhancing the nutritional content of meals for the elderly and the construction of a garden space to the rear of the premises.
