YOUNGSTERS at Highweek ­Primary School, Newton Abbot, are busy getting into the festive spirit as they prepare for this year’s ­Christmas fete.

The extravaganza, which takes place on December 8, is open to the public and has a lot to offer ­including games, raffle and stalls ideal for picking up some presents.

Judy Martyn, head teacher, said: ‘We are delighted that the children have been involved and are part of this community event.

‘It is strengthening their ­understanding of enterprise and provides cross curriculum activities at this festive time.’

The event is being organised by the Friends of Highweek, the school’s parent teacher association, who are on a mission to raise ­£5,000 which will go towards a new school library.

Starting at 2.30pm until 5pm, the annual spectacle will be held at the school in Coronation Road.
