Christow Community Primary School wonderful choir managed to beat the odds recently and was one of eight schools that made it through to BBC Radio Devon’s Christmas Choir Competition finals.

However, pupils at the school this morning (Friday, December 7) could not believe her eyes on the when there was a knock at the door and BBC Radio Devon arrived to surprise the children and tell them that they had won and would be performing at Exeter Cathedral later this month

The school won the small school category of the Star for Christmas competition - the prize of which is to perform at the Cathedral as part of Radio Devon’s Christmas Service.

Said Year 6 pupil James: ’I felt completely overjoyed when I heard the news. I feel really excited but a little nervous about singing in Exeter Cathedral. ’

Soloist Lauren from Year 4 commented: “I can’t wait to perform but I am a little nervous too. It was a dream come true and amazing for me.”

On Tuesday 18th December the whole choir will perform their song in the magnificent Exeter Cathedral. And you can here the choir on Christmas Day on Radio Devon when the service is broadcast to the county.
