TEARS of happiness were in abundance at Teign School in Kingsteignton this morning as students opened their all-important GCSE results.

Alex McCarthy-Mason was one of several to shed a tear as she opened her envelope. 'They were better I expected and it's a relief that it's all done now,' she said.

Happy student Daisy Parker will be hoping to forward her musical education and hopefully career now she has her results.

'I'll be moving on to Exeter College in September for a two year diploma in music course,' she said.'It's a bit early to say what I'd like to do after that but I would like a career working in music.'

Scarlett Mason and Bobbie Wood opened their results together and the initial nervousness was soon replaced by smiles.  Scarlett plans to move on to Exeter College to continue her studies, while Bobbie will be staying at Teign School to do A-Levels.
