PUPILS at Christow Community Primary School are in a playful and pleading mode for funding... and pronto too.
They are anxious to secure £5,000 to extend their play facilities at the Teign Valley school.
Year 5 and 6 school councillors Eleanor and Bella are spearheading the drive to turn their ambition into reality.
They say in their call for aid: ‘We are looking to the future and would like to have a new adventure playground at Christow.
‘To achieve this we need public assistance so that we can raise enough money to make it happen.
All you will need to do is vote for us – with all your 10 votes – for the Calor Gas Rural Fund.
‘This is really important for our outdoor learning and will make a difference to the children in our school as it will give them new skills.’
The council’s push would be a huge help towards funding the school’s playground development. Punters are being urged to follow the link below to vote – and ask friends and family to do the same. The deadline for voting is June 17.
Head of school Elise Redman is backing the pupils’ council in its request for financial help.
‘While we are proud of our beautiful learning environment and playground – with its multi-use sports area, climbing wall, playhouse, gazebo and field – we also recognise that it can be further improved,’ she revealed.
Children at the school have been involved in the process, from suggesting the idea of the playground, to generating a wish-list of equipment and helping to generate fundraising ideas.
Cash-gathering exercises have included cake sales, discos and mufti days, involving the wider school community, including parents, staff and governors.
