NEWTON Abbot’s Ricky Collyer has been crowned as South Devon College’s best apprentice.

The 23-year-old was announced as the apprentice of the year at an awards ceremony last week.

The young man picked also picked up the accolade for best level three apprentice for his dedication and consistent excellence in carpentry and joinery.

Stephen Criddle, principal at the college, said: ‘The Apprenticeship Awards ceremony was another wonderful evening to celebrate the many brilliant apprentices who are really transforming the local economy.

‘Everyone nominated for an award should be incredibly proud of themselves and their achievements.’
