IT’S gold for a third year in a row at Wolborough CE Nursery and Primary School.

The Newton Abbot school has achieved the Gold School Games Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

PE coordinator Mrs Back said she is delighted to pick up the award.

She said: ‘This is the third year in a row that Wolborough has achieved a gold.

‘The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.’

Mrs Back said all the pupils have taken part in local inter-school competitions and festivals this year. Sporting achievements include first in Years 5/6 gymnastics, second in Years 3/4 gymnastics and third in Year 2 hoop ball.

She added: ‘We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.

‘As part of our application for the award, we were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and we’re pleased the hard work of everyone at our school has been rewarded this year.

‘We look forward to applying once again in 2018.’
