A Teignbridge artist whose work has been exhibited around the south west has a new and rather special venue in which to hang her latest piece.
Emma Childs, from Kingsteignton, was commissioned to paint St Michael's C of E Primary School by headteacher Martin Harding.
Miss Childs helps out with the school's Year 6 art classes each week, and her nine-year-old son Chester is a pupil.
'Art teacher Dawn Kelly is just excellent, it's a privilege to help there,' said Miss Childs, whose portrait depicts the Victorian building in acrylics.
'I chose not to paint in an abstract way as I wanted something everyone would recognise.
'I'm not sure exactly where it will be hung, but I'm thrilled to have been asked to do it and to think it will become part of the school.
'I have donated it as Mr Harding is such a brilliant man and I've watched him turn the school around. It's fantastic what's been achieved.'
