THE ambitious plan to build hundreds of new homes in Teignmouth, and gouge a major road through a rural hillside, has been given an overwhelming thumbs down by the public.

Seventy-four per cent of those who responded to Teignbridge's vision for the resort in the next 30 years were opposed to most of the proposals.

Sixteen per cent were in favour, and ten per cent had no opinion.

The results of the survey into the Teignmouth section of the core strategy for the district has just been published and, as expected, most people were hostile.
