A YOUNG rugby player from Teignmouth has won an England cap.
Joe Simmonds, 19, has been picked for England U20s, who face Scotland this evening in Glasgow, a precursor to the Calcutta Cup Six Nations game tomorrow.
A good performance will mean he could be in line for more in the U20s’ tournament.
He comes from a rugby dynasty – his dad Dave and uncle Rob Simmonds both played for Teignmouth and Devon.
Simmonds, a stand-off who is a member of Exeter Chiefs’ academy, along with his older brother Sam, 21, a flanker, was playing for his home Teignmouth club up until last season, helping them secure promotion.
