CARERS in Newton Abbot have been pampered this week... as part of the nationwide Carers’ Week.

Local MP Anne Marie Morris was getting in on the act this morning by attending the unpaid carers’ monthly meeting at the town’s Avenue Church.

She was due to pop in at 11am to see carers enjoy a mix of refreshments and advice, both legal, financial and technological.

The get-togethers are supported by the KingsCare social and carer group based at Kingsteignton Medical Practice.

Carers’ Week also featured a free swimming sessions at the Lamorna Guest House in Kingsteignton on Monday.

And South Devon College in Newton Abbot opened its doors to allow carers to take advantage of the hair salon facilities for a wash and blow-dry.
