A LECTURE is set to be given concerning the search for a lost Dartmoor manor house.

North Hall Manor in Widecombe was abandoned during the medieval period, and archaeologists have been unable to determine it’s exact location despite 11th century evidence.

Abi Gray, resident archaeologist at the Devon Rural Archive [DRA], explained: ‘For more than a decade historians and archaeologists have been searching for its location. It has been the subject of much speculation by the local community.

‘However, with the help of the DRA, villager Peter Rennells identified two possible sites for the house. Excavations have been carried out since 2012.’

The illustrated talk will be given be Dartmoor National Park archaeologist Andrew Crabb.

Enthusiasts can attend the event at the DRA in Shilstone at 7pm tomorrow [August 4].
