Community groups in Chudleigh are hosting a free screening of the award-winning environmental documentary Bag It tomorrow night, March 22, at Chudleigh Town Hall.
The film, first released in America in 2011 to critical acclaim, follows ’everyman’ Jeb Berrier as he tries to make sense of our dependence on plastic bags.
Although his quest starts out small, Jeb soon learns that the problem extends past landfills to oceans, rivers and ultimately human health.
The screening, beginning at 7.30pm, is organised by members of Social and Environmental Action ’Round Chudleigh (SEARCH) and its campaign group Plastic Free Chudleigh, with help from Chudleigh Film Society.
Doors will open at 7pm. Wine, soft drinks, and nibbles will be provided. Audience members are invited to bring their own (plastic-free!) cup. A discussion about the film will follow afterwards.
Social and Environmental Action ’Round Chudleigh (SEARCH) is an informal local network in Chudleigh founded by town residents who are interested in environmental issues and social justice.
SEARCH shares information, takes local action, and mounts local campaigns on national issues.
SEARCH launched its campaign Plastic Free Chudleigh in 2018, with the aim of achieving a plastic-free status for the town.
